STOREPRICES MOD Author - Ardanis a.k.a. GeN1e e-mail gen1e@rambler.ru 1. WHY DID I CREATE THIS MOD While playing many different mods for Baldur's Gate I noticed one unpleasant thing - almost each mod adds certain amount of new enemies who drop tons of expensive loot. If not creatures then areas with chests full of treasure. I still remember playing TDD+SOS+TS+BP combination - in chapter six I had ~600000 coins, while in original game it hardly could be more than 100000. I started to lose interest to further playing. In order to avoid this I statted to ignore all of new loot but it was hard, since I couldn't remember where was laying each coin in original BG and thus I could take more than I wanted. The second reason - I'm kind of person that (surprise!) tries to gather as much as possible. At least until it become boring. When I've learned how to use WeiDu I said to myself - why not to make a mod which would greatly increase prices in stores and give a way to spend those millions? I liked this idea but soon I realised that it would be quite rude method, though effective one. Then why not to decrease buying prices? It would eliminate the need of gathering loot - if heavy mail or sword (Two-handed sword +1 forr example) will bring only 10-20 coins from selling to merchant there is absolutely no pleasure in picking them up. Even better - increasing both buying and selling prices will make every item very valuable and coins - something unhelpful (inflation, if you don't know). Or quite the reverse - items costs nothing and only rewards in gold are of some interest. 2. WHAT THIS MOD DOES There are 4 components: 1) Reduce selling values - will make stores to sell items at lower price 2) Raise selling values - will make stores to sell items at higher price 3) Reduce buying values - will make stores to buy items at lower price 4) Raise buying values - will make stores to buy items at higher price You can choose between 80% and 5% for 1,3 componennts. For 2,4 - between 125% and 2000%. Two first components change the same value which means that you can make for example increasing at 1333% (which couldn't be done directly) by choosing 67% for reducing and 2000% for raising. The same thing with third and fourth components. 3. INSTALLIATION Put files Setup-StorePrices.tp2, Setup-StorePrices.exe and folder StorePrices into your main BG folder, then run Setup-StorePrices.exe. Follow instructions and it will install this mod on your game. 4. UNINSTALLIATION Run Setup-StorePrices.exe and choose "Uninstall" option 5. INSTALLIATION ORDER This is technical mod which doesn't add even a bit of new content. Install it over any other "plot-containing" mod if you wish to benefit from this one as much as possible. 6. COMPATIBILITY This mod should be compatible with every other one. I didn't say "is compatible" because it is possible to create a mod which would refuse to install itself over StorePrices, but such thing could be done only intentionally. Anyway, being installed over any other mod, StorePrices won't mess anything. Though I haven't tried it, I suppose this mod should work fine with other IE games as well. 7.
